FirstRate Assessment
FirstRate is a tool used to evaluate the thermal efficiency of new residential buildings. It is used to pass the compulsory residential energy components of the Building Code of Australia.
On completion of the design of an apartment or house, the building in entered into the FirstRate5 modelling program along with all of the façade, shading and glazing properties. The result is a star rating from 0 to 10 stars.
Victoria currently requires a minimum of 6 stars for an individual house, or a minimum of 5 and average of 6 stars for an apartment building.
